Red Mite | Chicken Mite | Mite Control
This red mite killer spray is really designed for when the infestation has broken out beyond the power of natural powders.
Red Mite Killer Spray
Red Mite are the poultry keepers nightmare but will understanding they are easy to control/erradicate. The red mites eggs are almost impossible to kill, yes I know there is this spray that says this it can kill eggs too, as far as I am concerned it may as well say it flies to the moon because I have tried and tested these claims and to my testing they are false. Creasote was the only product I found to kill the eggs but losing a house for 4 weeks before I can move back in chickens is too much.
So what does this spray do? Well if you have an infestation, you need to let out your chickens, clean out the bedding, burn it or throw it away, do not add to a nearby comost bin. Then spray this can in all the nooks and crannies of the house and definatley around the perches. Close the house for 30-40 minutes (Allowing No Birds In) then replace the bedding and allow access to the birds again. The MITES ARE DEAD.
But the eggs are not so to wipe out an infestation I recommend you do the whole process again in 7 days, I know can says great for 6 weeks, trust me do it again in 7 days. At this stage the infestation is now gone.
Great Red Mite, Chicken mite control.
to give an idea of how much you need 250ml should do 2 treatments of our
upto 6 Poultry House
I reccomend a regular dusting with out
Red Mite Powder at this stage as a regular control as using chemicals around birds that are laying your dinner is not really the best thing in the long term, this spray should only be used at infestation stage.
If you have used this spray then I also recommend adding
Pro-Poultry-Vits to your birds diets for at least 7-14 days, which should keep the poultry bright and lower a chance of secondary infection.
Now the bad news where did the infestation come from? If your house has a felt roof or insulation then i am afraid it is unlikely you will ever to control outbreaks as you can not get to where they live, you will need to remove and replace the roof with a new material lie onduline or remove the cladding. If you can not get to it then that is where the RED MITE will live.
If you feel this option is not viable then i reccomend very regular inspections or your house it too old and frail then we also offer our own design
Chicken Housing.
