Chicken Breeds

I am getting asked every day how to contact the BHWT? Well please try http://www.bhwt.org.uk/ this is their main website. My main contact is Lisa Pope but i believe all volunteers are very helpful so done be nervous to contact you local agent, please remember they are volunteers so have day jobs and may take a day or two to get back to you. I know you want your chickens today but you may have to wait until their next rescue date, please do wait if you can as it will be very rewarding for you.

Again please do remember they are not a business, they are a charity and therfore please understand this is done in their free time given to the help of battery hens so responce time may not be same day, please work with the volunteers it will be worth it for you :)

Easy - Light Sussex Chickens :)

They are pretty birds and very calm, they are an old English breed, they lay lots of eggs and of course they are very very hardy chickens.

They are very pretty birds with a white body with black tail, black necks trully stunning birds running around the garden but for novices they are a forgiving whilst you get the hang of keeping chickens.

They will make great pets and as they should live 7-9 years they should make a good family member.

Ok, thanks for this question. Almost impossible to answer so I will give my answer using my experience. If you are keeping chickens please remember they are prey animals so always a bit flighty. What I have found (my own personal observation not proven in science) is the larger the breed the calmer the bird. Hence why I prefer large fowl only. Please note crested birds with slightly impaired vision seem to be the most flighty for obvious reasons. I am sure I will get lots of emails telling me how clam your banties are but please remember this is only answered on my experience in poultry keeping. Hope this helps.
